Ready to enter the big SEMrush Blog Contest 2019?

This box displays the information that Google has about your brand in the Knowledge Graph. At the moment, this mainly concerns big brands with a Wikipedia page. But this is changing very quickly, and more and more brands are getting a place in the Knowledge Graph (and therefore a Knowledge Panel) without a Wikipedia page.

The tactics to achieve this are to make sure Google is 100% confident that it understands who you are and what you do. Start with Schema.org markup on your About Us page, then have every piece of information you provide confirmed by at least 20 reliable and relevant external sources. Xin Luna Dong talks about trust-based information. This is key. Google will only accept a fact (or piece of information) when it has been phone number library corroborated by multiple reliable sources.

Here’s an interview I gave on the Knowledge Graph  if you want to know more.

Wikipedia

Fast (if your brand has good awareness, but we can’t predict anything if it doesn’t)

This SERP result looks great on a brand page. It’s not necessarily a rich element, as it appears as a classic blue link, but I mention it because it can bring a significant amount of interesting information (as you can see with Yoast) and it has an incredibly positive impact on brand image in people’s minds.

Some people think that Wikipedia pages are for big brands. But with 48 employees

Yoast is an example of a mid-sized company that has a Wikipedia page. How did they get one when bigger brands didn’t? Because they don’t have brand recognition: Wikipedia uses that term, not mine. Brand recognition is a fundamental requirement for a Wikipedia page. Here are the rules: don’t try to add a Wikipedia page unless a) you have brand recognition and b) you can prove it.

Look at the reliable and relevant references at the 5 best apps for scheduling appointments the bottom of Yoast’s page; it’s hard to discredit them. Keep in mind that anyone can add a page, and real editors will check and judge whether a page is valid or not. There will be a discussion, and the page will live or die on your proven merits. Also note that Yoast most likely didn’t create their own page. A Yoast user who felt they were worthy probably did.

I have a Wikipedia page too

It wasn’t me who created it, it was a fan of my music and cartoons. As a person, I am known for the music albums I released on record labels and the taiwan lead TV series I created for digital terrestrial television. A self-published site or releases only on Spotify don’t count (that would be too easy).

Be careful  – if you create a Wikipedia page and it is deleted by an editor, your brand will be considered spammy, and you will have to wait (and beg) for years before another attempt succeeds.
